Open Question: Would you pay for a dishwasher handle you broke accidentally?

I am renting a house with some friends. I live with the landlady. The dishwasher handle broke when I was trying to open the dishwasher last year. It was an accident. We have coped all year without a handle, it was annoying at first but we got used to it. I am moving out next week and now the landlady says she wants to take money out of my deposit to pay for the dishwasher handle. What would you do? Would you pay for it?
